Description:
Welcome to the 19th century. The Survivors is an Arctic Western Battle Royale where you and 99 other gold hunters fight for a claim in the gold rush. Scavenge for equipment in the rough, unforgiving Silverspring County. The environment sets the pace; only storm eyes are safe from the raging storm, and bandits are out for your gold. Do you have what it takes, or will you be blinded by your greed? Tasks and Responsibilities: Throughout this one year project, my focus and responsibilities have been centered around the core design and experience. In the pre-production phase I researched and prototyped procedural world generation, climbing, and throw-able weapons, to find out their viability and gameplay experiences. My findings informed our team and had a big impact on design decisions that lead us to not implement these features. In the first production phase I designed and wrote design documents for around 7+ game features, ranging from core gameplay features, to user interface designs for various menus and screens. In the second production phase I stepped up and was granted the role of supporting gameplay design lead. In this role I helped our gameplay design lead with lead tasks he couldn't prioritize or struggled with, and I was in charge of reviewing all gameplay feature implementations. I created the design review process with the goal of documenting the functional state, expected experience, and needed improvements for each newly implemented feature. These points were then used in the design decision process and overall gameplay improving process by the whole team. The design review process helped our team find many aspects where the game could be improved, and this has ultimately improved the overall game quality and user experience. In the post-production phase I took on the role of UI/UX designer, and completely reworked our main menu, all sub menus, player inventory, and loading screen, as to make them stylized with our new user interface style, and to greatly improve their quality and experience. |
